Shoreline setting and charming traditional design make Taigh Ailean cottage the ideal Hebridean retreat. Our lovingly restored, traditional blackhouse is family-owned and run. The ideal base to connect you with the island and its wonderful people, places and heritage.

  • King size bed. Double/two singles sofa bed.

    Bath and overhead electric shower.

    High speed internet.

    Washing machine and tumble dryer.

    Electric oven with 4 hobs, microwave and fridge freezer.

    Woodburning stove (wood and/or peat supplied).

  • The Isle of Berneray, near North Uist. Shoreline setting at the eastern side of the island.

  • We are biased, but Berneray boasts one of the best beaches in world (also called the “divine” West Beach, it fended off competition from Greece, Cyprus, Portugal, Croatia, Montenegro, Sicily, and Corsica claimed third place in a list of Europe’s top 20 beaches). The West beach is a half an hour walk from the cottage and the smaller - but no less captivating - Traigh Lar (East Beach) is a 5 minute stroll.
